There are times in our life when we struggle with personal issues that can feel overwhelming, whether they've affected us over a long period of time or as a result of a specific event. We might need help but approaching friends or family can sometimes be hard. Or perhaps we have no one to turn to and feel isolated. Counselling can help provide this support.
My private practice provides a confidential environment in which we can explore your issues. We work at your pace and direction, allowing you the time to discuss and explore areas relevant to you such as life events, feelings, emotions and behaviour. Some people feel counselling is only for those who've had a huge life event or disruption, but people come with all sorts of issues that are important to them; no issue is too small.
When it comes to the sessions themselves, some people attend just a few, whilst others come for a longer period of time. And sometimes people are very clear about why they want counselling whilst others can feel confused about where to start. Everyone's experience is unique.
My work is grounded in a philosophy of empathy, warmth, acceptance and trust. Our work together will hopefully enable you to gain a greater understanding of your experiences and make sense of your personal issues. The counselling will help you make informed decisions, creating new personal choices which I hope will provide you with a framework and direction for your life.
